In 2000, the HIRE Center brought its expertise in-house to assess the seven degree programs in the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at Cal State East Bay. The HIRE Center provides CBE administrators and program heads with formative information so they can expand, adapt, or create programs that best meet the needs of their constituents. To this end, we structure and implement the research necessary to provide:
- Annual assessments of student learning in all CBE degree programs.
- Annual reports of graduating students’ assessment of their programs.
- Surveys of employers, alumni, and current students in smaller CBE programs once every five years.
- A summative assessment how well degree programs are achieving their objectives once every five years.
- Ad hoc research projects providing needed information on programs.
The on-going reports provided by the HIRE Center are used as part of an outcome assessment process in which CBE administrators engage in continuous quality improvement of their programs, strengthen existing programs, and design new programs while maintaining academic standards and meeting the needs of students and employers.
