Labor and Public Policy
Since its founding in 1994, the HIRE Center has researched and evaluated policy and programs affecting individuals who lack the infrastructure to increase their human capital and obtain and retain employment in changing economic environments. The HIRE Center’s research in the area of Labor and Public Policy has facilitated discussion and improved policies and programs in areas such as understanding the operation of specific labor markets, transiting youth from school to work, moving individuals from welfare to work, analyzing the costs and benefits of a living wage, determining employment and wages of low-skilled workers, improving assess to health care, and providing labor market information.
