Since its inception, the HIRE Center has worked to combine the academic, professional and practical resources of CSUH with community service. Our efforts became formalized with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation in 1999. Solid community ties and a resolve to play a strong role in neighborhood capacity building have become essential parts of our continuing mission to help both individuals and communities grow toward self-sufficiency. The HIRE Center maintains an active presence in the community through specific neighborhood partnerships, and provides service and support to local communities by actively participating in various committees and alliances throughout the Bay Area.
