SURVEY DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION



HIRE Center personnel have considerable experience in designing and implementing surveys using a wide variety of both qualitative and quantitative methods. Quantitative instruments have been developed for administration through the mail, telephone, face-to-face, and over the Internet. Qualitative instruments have been developed as site visit protocols and for focus group facilitation. HIRE Center surveys have been successfully administered to a wide variety of populations, including human resource specialists, for-profit and non-profit managers and administrators, service delivery providers, education administrators, high school and university students, low-income populations, and the general population. Surveys have been administered on topics that include labor market behavior, education, computer use, fertility, management styles and practices, skill acquisition, hiring practices, program assessment and use, and needs assessments of individuals and firms. HIRE Center surveys have been translated and implemented in Spanish, Russian, and Chinese.
